Tuesday Throwdown – Podcast Recap

We dropped a pod last night and want to thank everyone who gave it a listen. Listening takes commitment and we appreciate the time you gave us. Hopefully it translates into some green for you during this Tuesday Throwdown that has $5K going to 1st place.

Naturally, not everyone has time for the podcast, so below is a quick recap on what we discussed. That being said, it’s only 4:30 CST and the slate tip is still 90 minutes away. The pod (conveniently below) is 35 minutes long so there is still time to listen! Just hit play!

If you can’t, see our Cash, Value, GPP, and Bust (CVGB) predictions for the 9-game slate.

Cash Plays

These are the safe plays. Players that we think have high floors and expect to get a stress free 4x. Byrd and I both like Villanova guards against the struggling DePaul Blue Demons. The o/u in that game is the highest on this tight slate, so it makes sense to have exposure here. James went to the post for his selection with Badger and Ohio State transfer Micah Potter. Potter has been very productive in limited exposure this year. The big man at home against a good Maryland team seems like a safe value so long as he continues to get minutes.

Below is a look at our preferred cash plays.

Collin Gillespie (G)720028.80
Micah Potter (F)570022.80
Justin Moore (G)520020.80

Value Plays

These are players under $4500 that we think will exceed 4x the value. These are the kind of guys that you need on your roster to new able to pay up for those studs out there. Byrd kicked us off by taking Jordan Campbell, a guy with one game under his belt in which he absolutely let it fly. James stayed in that same San Diego State and Fresno State game by taking Aztec KJ Feagin, another guard with a lot off upside.

Finally I went with a 4-star freshman from Kansas State who is starting to regain good minutes after an injury robbed him of a few games earlier in the year. Montavious Murphy, not only has a great name, but will be leaned on in this Big 12 defensive clash with Texas Tech.

Jordan Campbell (G)420016.80
KJ Feagin (G)450018.00
Montavious Murphy (F)380015.20

GPP Plays

So with our GPP picks they need 5x for us to. consider the selection a win. The Dookies and their favorable match-up versus Clemson led both James and Byrd to take Blue Devils. Byrd went with Cassius Stanley, while James elected for expensive, but productive Tre Jones. Duke is a -12 point favorite in the game and has an implied point total of 71.5.

I went to the paint for my GPP play as I really like Oscar Tschwiebe from West Virginia. TCU has had a nice start to the year, but I don’t know how they will matchup with both Derrick Culver and Oscar so give me Tschwiebe all day.

Cassius Stanley (G)570028.50
Tre Jones (G)830041.50
Oscar Tschwiebe. (F)730036.50

Bust Predictions

This was hard for us as we all liked the individuals that we think are in for rough nights this evening. The slate made pricing tough so this was more about game environment than the actual player. James went with Desmond Bane who faces a nasty WVU defense and hasn’t been in top form of late.

I went with Obi Toppin as he is still easing his way back off an ankle injury and I am not sure how much he plays if Dayton can take it to VCU. Nate Grimes has also been banged up, and it seems like that Fresno State team has decided to run their offense through another big, Orlando Robinson going forward.

Nate Grimes (F)790031.60
Desmond Bane (G)840033.60
Obi Toppin (F)860034.40

Talented players, just guys we think will under preform this evening.

  1. Love the podcast and articles. There’s hardly any info out for dfs people. You make my research quick and simple with the articles and podcast. I’ve taken down multiple contest but mainly have profited 13x my entry fees. And won 3 tickets to January 14th $5 contest. Hopefully DK and FD post more contest. Keep up the amazing work!
