Mid-Major Monday

So Monday we have a real snoozer of a slate featuring six mid-major teams that are hard to find info on. That being said, DraftKings is putting another $2,000 into someone’s pocket so your boys @CBB_DFS are on it. UMBC and Princeton start our slate at 5:00, while the two other games tip at 6:00. Action tips and ends early so if you chose, you can settle into a big NFC West showdown on Monday Night Football.

GUARDS WE LIKE

Cameron Henry, INST (G, 6900) – With Tyreke Key out, Henry has served as the alpha for the Sycamores, leading the team in usage, assists, blocks, and steals while providing solid rebounding rates as well. North Dakota St. will try to slow the pace, but Henry’s ability to fill up a stat sheet should make him viable in all formats.

DeAndre Gholston, UW-MI (G, 6400) – While PBJ leads the team in usage and shot share, Gholston isn’t far behind. He has shown an extremely high ceiling when Baldwin was out, but with him in the lineup I consider him more of a cash game option.

Ethan Wright, PRIN (G/F, 6300) – Princeton is projected to score 80 points tonight and are getting paced up by UMBC. The Tigers also play a short bench so I like all their regulars tonight. Wright is probably my favorite as he is a tremendous rebounding wing and the Terriers really struggle on the glass.

Keondre Kennedy, UMBC (G/F, 6200) – Solid target tonight as Kennedy has been pretty consistent this year. He is coming off a poor outing but averaged 29.9 DK (5x) in his four prior. Nothing scary about the Princeton defense.

Darnell Rogers, UMBC (G, 6100) – At 5’2 he is easy to spot on the floor, but the senior point guard also leads the team in usage, assists, and steals. Princeton is not a good defensive team and doesn’t force a lot of turnovers. Rogers will have plenty of space to create and should easily hit value.

Cooper Neese, INST (G/F, 6000) – Neese has 25% shot share and plays the most minutes on the team, so he’s a solid cash game target. In addition to Neese, Micah Thomas is a viable cash game target while Bledson and Cam Crawford are more GPP options from the Sycamores.

Ryan Langborg, PRIN (G, 5200) – Foul trouble slowed down his run of nearly 6x in 4 straight, but tonight he should have every opportunity to bounce back against UMBC. As mentioned above I like all Princeton starters, but Langborg at 5200 is the most discounted option.

Ishmael Legget, URI (G/F, 5000) – With the Mitchell twins finally priced appropriately, we need to find value elsewhere on Rhode Island. Legget is a promising freshman coming off a 31.3 DK game. He fills up the box score and should be safe in cash formats. I am reluctant to use him in a GPP build as this game will be the slowest on the slate by far.

Malik Martin, URI (G/F, 4400) – While his shooting stroke has been off, Martin has still be a productive starter for the Rams. With not a lot of cheaper options due to a small slate, Martin makes a lot of sense. He should be fine in cash and has shown GPP upside in the past.

FORWARDS WE LIKE

Rocky Kreuser, NDSU (F, 8100) – This is a pace up game for the Bison, so it’s a good spot for Kreuser. He’s sitting around 30% usage and is the team’s best rebounder, so he just needs to avoid foul trouble. His game logs are a bit of a rollercoaster, but he has 40 DK upside against an Indiana St. defense that is 331st in effective FG% defensively.

Patrick Baldwin Jr., UW-MI (F, 7200) – The only 5-star player on the slate, Baldwin opted to play for his father and stay home rather than attend Duke or Georgetown. URI has a talented defense, but no one will match PBJ’s raw talent on the floor. Expect high ownership tonight.

Tosan Evboumwan, PRIN (F, 6100) – Princeton’s versatile center can stuff the stat sheet in a variety of ways. He brings some foul risk, but has shown 40+ DK upside this season. With 29% of the usage, in a pace up game you have to like Tosan tonight. He is where the offense starts.

Grant Nelson, NDSU (F, 5800) – I think someone other than Rocky will hit value in a pace up game, but the Bison pricing isn’t favorable. I’ll lean Nelson as a safe option with a little upside. The 6’11 freshman has the second highest usage of the regulars, is an excellent offensive rebounder, and has a little block upside. Seems like a different guy steps up each night as the Robin to Rocky’s Batman role for NDSU, so trust your gut as one of these Bison should roam to value tonight.

Darnell Rogers

OVER 22.7 fantasy points

Darnell leads the Retrievers in usage, steals and assists. He also had a 24% shot share. This game has an implied total of 152, and we like that. UMBC also brings the nation’s 47th fastest tempo against Princeton’s 265th rated squad in defensive efficiency. All things point to Rogers going OVER 22.7.

– Joe (14-12-3)

Rocky Kreuser

OVER 25.9 fantasy points

I’d like to see him block a few more shots, but with 31% usage in a pace up game Rocky should get home with points and rebounds. Let’s hope his 19 FGAs from last game rolls over to this one tonight!!

– Byrd (17-11-1)

BUCKETHEAD BONUS (15-10-1)

T.J. Bickerstaff

OVER 23.1 fantasy points

He leads the team in rebounding and steals and is second in blocks. BC plays an Albany team that is one of the worst rebounding team in the country. His logs are all over the map, but he’s second on the team in usage and shot rate. This is a very winnable matchup.
